Abstract
Ditto: Artificial Entity is a digital interactive installation that transforms the testimonies of “comfort women” survivors into empathetic, real-time dialogues for contemporary audiences. Using a generative AI character, the project preserves survivors’ voices and connects historical memory with present-day viewers.
Visitors engage with the AI by touching a hand-shaped sculpture, initiating a personal dialogue based on survivor testimonies and archival data. The installation combines visual art inspired by diverse faces, audio art, and historical archives to create a multi-sensory experience. By presenting these testimonies as living conversations rather than static records, this project offers a novel approach to memory preservation through digital technology, fostering emotional connections between history and audiences.

아트 프로젝트 Ditto
‘위안부’ 문제에 대해 공감하는 〈가상의 존재〉와 마주앉아 대화하는 경험
〈가상의 존재, Ditto〉는 전후 80년간 생존자들은 ‘위안부’의 실상과 부당함을 알리기 위해 증언하고 싸워온 ‘위안부’ 생존자들의 용기있는 목소리가 시간과 함께 사라지지 않도록, 생존자의 목소리를 현대화하는 작업이다.
관객은 전시 공간에서 ‘위안부’ 문제에 대해 설명하고 공감하는 가상의 존재와 마주앉아 대화를 나누고 손을 잡는다. 다양한 사람들의 얼굴을 모티브로 한 비주얼 작업과 ‘위안부’ 생존자 할머니가 좋아했던 노래를 모티브로 작곡한 음악을 체험하며 관객은 ‘위안부’ 생존자의 목소리를 고정된 기록이 아닌 살아있는 존재와의 대화로 경험하게 될 것이다.
설치 작업과 더불어 더 많은 사람에게 다가가기 위한 웹페이지를 통한 온라인 기반 배포도 진행하였다.
